Alcaraz has to pass in Barcelona
Carlos Alcaraz has to cancel the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona due to an injury to his right hitting arm and therefore cannot defend his title. Due to the injury, the world number three missed the tournament in Monte Carlo. Rafael Nadal, on the other hand, is apparently returning to the tour in Barcelona. The 37-year-old remained in the field of participants in the draw for the clay court tournament and was drawn with the Italian Flavio Cobolli for the opening round. It would be Nadal’s first match since the beginning of January.
Riedi lost in the final in Madrid
Leandro Riedi (ATP 166) missed his third title of the season at a Challenger tournament in Madrid. In his first clay competition of the year, the 22-year-old from Zurich lost the final against the Italian Stefano Napolitano (ATP 158) 3:6, 3:6. Wawrinka meets the Portuguese in Bucharest
Stan Wawrinka tries out Bucharest after his first round exit in Monte Carlo. In the Romanian capital he will face the Portuguese Nuno Borges (ATP 59) in the first round. For Wawrinka it is the first duel with the 27-year-old, who reached the round of 16 of the Australian Open in January.
