Aguilar de la Frontera’s ‘May in Patios’ Showcases Rich Architectural Heritage

Aguilar de la Frontera will celebrate a new edition of ‘May in patios’, to show visitors the rich architectural heritage that these spaces treasure, decorated for the occasion at this time. This activity, promoted by the Aguilarense City Council, has the collaboration of the Córdoba Provincial Council and involves a parallel cultural program for all audiences during all weekends of the month.

The Cultural delegate of the provincial institution, Gabriel Duque, highlighted that “in our province, not only in the capital, there are wonderful patios like those of Aguilar, which opens its doors so that everyone can admire the splendor of its flowers. , but it has a very interesting cultural aspect.”

For her part, the mayor of the municipality, Carmen Flores, has insisted on the idea that “the province has to be a whole, if we harmonize all the resources and activities of the municipalities, we will all win” and, in this sense, she has grateful for “the commitment and support of the Provincial Council.”

The mayor has pointed out that “Aguilar has many resources, natural and artistic, but above all its history and heritage, and all of this merges perfectly in this event that attracts a large number of visitors each year.”

The Councilor for Culture, Tourism, Economic Development, Heritage and Twinning of Aguilar, Paqui Herrador, has delved into the objective of this activity, with which we want to make known and value the architectural heritage of the municipality, especially the ancestral houses and their patios, highlighting their historical and cultural importance.”

In the same way, Herrador insisted, “with ‘Mayo en patios’ “we want to offer a comprehensive tourist-cultural experience that combines the visit of the patios of the ancestral houses with the exploration of other aspects of the heritage and the tourist offer of Aguilar de border”.

Finally, “it is also intended to promote synergies between the different tourist and cultural resources of the town, showing the diversity and quality of its attractions to enhance interest among visitors.”

Ten houses can be visited on Saturdays (at 8:00 p.m.) and Sundays (11:30 a.m.) in the month of May, with the Clock Tower as the meeting point. There will be two types of route, on the one hand, the first three weekends (4/5, 11/12 and 18/19) there will be guided tours of the different houses, and a glass of local wine will be served.

The last weekend (May 25/26), there will be visits with complementary activities, such as plays, recital of poems by Vicente Núñez, musical performances and tasting of local products.
