Because he refused to sit on the bench as a substitute in the away game against Leverkusen, Werder Bremen has suspended Naby Keita until the end of the season. The 28-year-old also has to pay a “significant fine,” according to Werder.

As Bremen announced, Keita will no longer train with the team for the time being and will not be in the dressing room. “Naby’s behavior cannot be tolerated for us as a club,” said Werder’s sporting director Clemens Fritz. “In this phase of the season, we need full focus on the remaining games and a team that is very close together. Therefore, there was no alternative to our measures.”
