Adam Hložek: Where Will the Czech Football Star Move Next?

Adam Hložek was unable to establish himself even in his second season in the championship Leverkusen. And the German media are already speculating where he will move in the summer for playing practice. According to the Water Bearers podcast, he should not take a step back above all.

You must have painted it differently. Adam Hložek, one of the generational talents of Czech football, was unable to continue his Spartan style abroad.

The protagonists of the Water Bearers podcast agree that it needs a reboot in a new environment. And that he himself must play the key role in reviving his career.

“After all, we are talking about a boy who just won the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. In addition, he is coached by one of the most respected young coaches today. He certainly has an excellent teacher in Xabi Alonso. But that doesn’t change the fact that he absolutely needs to get back into match practice,” explains Karel Tvaroh, a former teammate of the Czech national team.

The Czech winger even managed to become a historical record holder in the German Bundesliga in one respect – although he probably didn’t even want such a milestone. During the current season, Adam Hložek became the first footballer to collect 46 starts in the competition without at least one of them completing from the opening to the final whistle. He was always either substituted or came on the pitch from the bench.

“In connection with Adam Hložek, there is a lot of speculation about interest from England or Italy. On the Apennine Peninsula, his services should be requested by Roman clubs, while on the British Isles leading second division clubs such as Leicester or Leeds are mentioned. And the first-named has already secured a return to the Premier League,” reports Jaromír Bosák, podcast host.

Especially not to Sparta

“In my eyes, Adam has the indisputable advantage that, thanks to its typology, it could be used at practically any address. He is still only 21 years old, he still has great potential. I believe that this season was also beneficial for him in many ways and that he himself does not see it as a waste of time and a waste of talent,” reflects Karel Tvaroh on Hložek’s perspectives.

The Czech striker has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen valid until 2027. In the current season, he managed to make 22 league starts and score two goals. He spent just 351 minutes on the pitch in the Bundesliga.

Although he has become part of a team that has set foot on an unprecedented season without a single defeat in all competitions, the trio of podcasters agree that he should immediately look for a solution to rehabilitate himself from the summer.

“From my point of view, it basically doesn’t matter where he appears in the summer. It depends on him waking up, rebooting. Of course, one basic prerequisite is required for this: In order to heal his ankle injury and in preparation, no matter where he starts in the summer, the team was healthy. I wouldn’t advise him to take a single step. And that would be a return to Sparta,” says Luděk Mádl. According to him, it would be a step back, a retreat from the demands of better competition.

Water bearers are also debating why Sparta Prague must be very interested in Hložka’s future and why they should hope that Leverkusen will not sell him now, but will send the young player somewhere on loan.

Award certificate

Sparta, Slavia, Pilsen, Baník, Mladá Boleslav and Slovácko. This is how the six that will fight for the title in the Fortuna league superstructure in the group.

Although it is about the league’s prizes, the first ones are definitely not falling. The water carriers continue their debate from previous episodes, how Sparta managed to catch up and overtake Slavia in the past period. They point to the prospects for the development of Baník Ostrava and, conversely, express themselves very critically and with concerns about the future of the situation in Slovácko.

There is also a traditional look abroad, in which top referees from England caught it this time. Even Luděk Mádl, as an Arsenal supporter, had to admit that referee Michael Oliver significantly helped the colors of his favorite club in the North London derby. In West Ham’s match with Liverpool, Anthony Taylor “distinguished himself” for a change. “And these two will represent England at the summer Euro,” notes Jaromír Bosák with irony in his voice.
