ROVIGO – A weekend with an “international” character that has just been spent on the diamond of the Baseball Softball Club Rovigo. Between Saturday and Sunday, two well-known foreign teams stopped in Via Vittorio Veneto, in the Tassina district, arriving in Polesine to test themselves against the Seniores rossoblù baseball and softball teams.
Itas Mutua Rovigo, now close to its debut in Serie A baseball, had the honor of facing the Czech team Kotlarka Praga in a double friendly match: the first match was played on Saturday at 2pm, the second the following morning at 10am. Two matches played by the Rovigo roster at a good pace, against a little-known opponent who proved to be of a good level: both matches were won by the home team, 5-0 and 12-2 respectively. For coach Soto Diaz and the entire technical staff it was an opportunity to oil the mechanisms in view of the first challenges of the Serie A qualifying round, which Itas Mutua will face with the aim of immediately gaining important points for achieve as soon as possible the goal of earning a place on the most prestigious stage of the national race.
Definitely stimulating friendly match also for the “Girls” of the Baseball Softball Club Rovigo of Serie A2. On Saturday the rossoblù team hosted theGuggenberger Legionnaires Regensburg Softball, a team that plays in Germany’s top softball league, the Bundesliga. The meeting was part of the Italian tour that the important German club is carrying out in preparation for the next sporting season. Also in this case, as with their Serie A colleagues, the rossoblù girls took advantage of the opportunity to test themselves against a top-level opponent and finalize the final details before the start of the Serie A2 softball championship. In an atmosphere of great fun and sharing, the result of the match, which however saw Rovigo prevail 17-5 over the German team, almost took a backseat. The intense Saturday of the rossoblù “Girls” continued in Crocetta with the participation in the “Trofeo Dalmine”, in which New Bologna also participated, in addition naturally to the home team. Rovigo faced Crocetta, also a Serie A2 team, in mid-afternoon, narrowly prevailing 3-2. In the evening the match against New Bologna, which ended with a convincing 4-1 which allowed the rossoblù to win the trophy.
The beautiful victory achieved by the young team was also recorded over the weekend Rossoblu cadet registered in the Serie C baseball championship: at the end of a very exciting match, the Polesine team managed to get the better of the Castelfranco Veneto Dragons 14-13. He also smilesUnder 18 of the Adriatic LNG Baseball Softball Club Rovigo which beat Padova 12-3 in the category baseball championship. Definitely encouraging signs also from all the other youth teams that took to the diamond in their respective championships. L’Under 15 of baseball beat the Wizards of Villafranca 15-1. The 16-6 victory forUnder 12 of baseball on the Palladio Vicenza, while theUnder 14 gave way to Tecnovap Verona with a score of 5-17. String of victories in softball, with theUnder 13 victorious both over San Bonifacio 8-7 and over San Martino Buon Albergo 16-4, while theUnder 15 ruled Romano d’Ezzelino 10-5.
