Snooker. A great sensation on the eve of the World Championships!

On Monday, there was quite a sensation in the qualifying tournament. The 2006 world champion Graeme Dott said goodbye to the competition. The Scot had to acknowledge the superiority of the former junior world champion, the Welshman Jackson Page. However, for many experts this result was not a surprise. Dott has recently been far from his peak form, and in the world ranking he is only 54th.

Graeme Dott won the world title in 2006. A year later, he also won the China Open, and in 2010 he became the world vice-champion – these are his greatest achievements. Also in 2006-07 he was second in the world ranking, which was the highest position in this player’s career.

It is worth adding that Dott is not the only successful player who has already said goodbye to the competition in Sheffield. Fergal O’Brien was also eliminated. The 52-year-old Irishman started his professional snooker adventure in 1991 and is one of the most experienced snooker players. However, after the defeat in the qualifying rounds, he announced his retirement, which means he will no longer take part in any competitions.

The main tournament will start in Sheffield on April 20. The final is scheduled for May 6. In addition to the defending champion Brecel, Ronnie O’Sullivan will also be a favorite.
