Zverev Dominates Dimitrov in Miami Quarterfinals, Advances to Semifinals

Zverev, on the other hand, won the last seven duels against Dimitrov. The Bulgarian only won the premiere duel in 2014.

Dimitrov “played amazing tennis.” He “couldn’t find any solutions” against the 32-year-old.

The courageous and aggressive Dimitrov then explained: “I think to win against him you have to give your best, that’s how it is. I went into the match very focused and it was very clear what I had to do .” He was able to “dictate the game and read a little better.”

In the end, the Bulgarian had 23 winners to his name, Alcaraz 16. While the Spaniard only converted one of his five break points, Dimitrov used four of eight.

Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner (Italy/No. 2) and Daniil Medvedev (No. 4) will contest the second semi-final on Friday. Zverev reached the final in Miami in 2018, but narrowly lost to the US giant John Isner. In 2023, the top German player failed at his opening hurdle.
