Young Judoka Elena Storione Awarded First Scholarship from Matteo Pellicone Foundation

Important recognition for Elena Storione, the young judoka of the Asd Ippon Club gym of the Casale brothers. During the Italian cadet championships which took place at the ‘PalaPellicone’ in Ostia, the athlete from Furce received the first scholarship from the “Matteo Pellicone” Foundation as part of the aims aimed at rewarding athletes who have particularly distinguished themselves in sports disciplines of Fijlkam (the Italian Federation which also includes judo).

Storione, born in 2006, has achieved a growing series of successes in the last two years, also confirmed in the various category and weight changes. In 2022 you won the bronze medal at the Italian Cadet championships; in 2023 first the second place at the European Cup in Naples, then the gold medal at the Italian Junior championships to finish with third place at the Cadet World Championships, cat. 48kg, which took place in Zagreb. The judoka of the Asd Ippon Club is among other things included in the ministerial project ‘High level student-athlete’. Satisfaction on the part of the brothers Vincenzo and Giannicola Casale who have supported and encouraged Elena’s potential since she was very young.

Applause also from the Liceo Classico ‘E. Trimarchi’ of S.Teresa, a complex frequented by the young judoka: “We are proud of you! May you grow more and more as an athlete, see your sacrifices repaid and achieve many, many other goals” is the wish posted on social media by the school. And satisfaction also on the part of her parents, Simona Miuccio and Giacinto Storione, who boast another promising athlete, Ludovica, at home.

Returning to the Italian Cadet championship in Ostia, the day recorded other important placings for the boys from the Furcese gym. Bronze medal for Giacomo Pagano in the cat. 55kg. After overcoming Di Gianni of Asd Unisport in his debut match, the judoka of Asd Ippon Club had to give in to Bendoni from Mantua. In the repechage three brilliant successes in a row which earned him third place, against Celotto of CS Pomilia, the Roman Ciavurro of Judo Preneste and finally Sassi of Asd Judo Shiai.

Finally, honorable placings for Alberto Miceli in the cat. 60kg and for Paola Pagliarello in the cat. 48kg, both ranked fifth.
