Early in the afternoon today, the XIII Holy Week Basketball Tournament “III Jesús Vidal Memorial” began in the Municipal Sports Pavilion, organized by the Linense Basketball Union, in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Cádiz, the City Council of La Línea de la Concepción and the Andalusian Basketball Federation.
The tournament was presented yesterday by the mayor, Juan Franco; the deputy mayor, municipal delegate for Sports, Francisco Javier Vidal, and the president of the ULB, Virginia Rodríguez.
Until Saturday afternoon, twelve teams from the provinces of Málaga, Córdoba, Seville and Cádiz will participate, in different categories, with a total of 450 players. Specifically, today, Friday, the baby basketball (mixed) and premini male and female categories of the teams, ULB from La Línea, Udea from Algeciras, Montera from Los Barrios, Gabba from Gibraltar and CAB Estepona, will play. The women’s and men’s minibasket and children’s category teams participating on Saturday are: CB Utrera, UB Jerez, El Palo de Málaga, Miramar de Torremolinos, Camdray de San Fernando, Adesa de Sanlúcar, and CB La Palmera de Córdoba.
The Sports councilor was grateful to the ULB for perpetuating the memory of his brother, Jesús Vidal, closely linked to the club. The mayor, for his part, invited basketball fans to watch this competition, already traditional in the city during Holy Week.
