The top European clubs that need a new coach next summer include FC Liverpool, FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich. Jürgen Klopp, Xavi and Thomas Tuchel will leave their positions after the season for different reasons.

Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is probably the most sought-after coach on the market. The Basque is well on his way to crowning Bayer 04 German champions for the first time in the club’s history. The Werkself are also the only team in Europe’s top leagues that are still undefeated.

Even though Xabi Alonso is currently not showing any signs of wanting to leave Leverkusen in the summer, there is already a tug of war going on behind the scenes over him. At FC Bayern, former player Alonso is reportedly the favorite to succeed the previously unsuccessful Thomas Tuchel.

According to a report, Alonso is said to be insisting on signing a specific player in the event of a move to Munich.

FC Bayern: Xabi Alonso allegedly with a clear transfer demand

Such a transfer could cost Bayern dearly. Because Alonso would, according to the Spanish portal “Defense Central” In the event of a change to Bayern, insist that Florian Wirtz follows him to Munich. The market value of the German international, who is the central offensive player in Leverkusen, is estimated at 100 million euros. Wirtz will hardly be available for less.

The 20-year-old has already managed 11 goals and 17 assists in 36 competitive games for Bayer 04 this season. The Munich team has been interested in the attacking midfielder for a long time, but the competition is fierce: Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are also said to have had their eye on Wirtz for a long time.

However, Bayer Leverkusen repeatedly say that they do not want to give up their most valuable player in the summer of 2024 under any circumstances. Father Hans Wirtz also recently emphasized several times that his son would also play for Leverkusen next season.

In an interview with “Spiegel” published on Saturday, Wirtz also said that he would not tie his future to that of Alonso. “It is extremely important to me that I have such a good relationship with him,” he explained. “But of course we decide about our future independently of each other.” The 42-year-old coach shaped Wirtz into the world-class player he is today.

In addition to the better sporting prospects, Bayern could lure Wirtz with an extremely lucrative salary. In terms of financial strength, however, the Munich team is clearly at a disadvantage compared to the equally interested clubs from Manchester, Liverpool and Madrid. And in terms of sport, Bayern haven’t really been able to keep up with the competition from England and Spain recently.

On Saturday the DFB team will play the first of two test matches during the current international break. In Lyon it’s against France, followed three days later in Frankfurt against the Netherlands by the next top game.
