EM 2024 in Germany, group phase mode: Which and how many teams will make it to the round of 16?
There are a total of six groups with four nations each at the upcoming European Championships. As is usual with major events of this kind, the best two teams in each group advance to the next round, the round of 16. Since there are only twelve teams in six groups and 16 are needed for a round of 16, the four best-placed third-place teams can also be happy.
And how are they determined? First and foremost, of course, the number of points counts, then the goal difference and then the number of goals, wins, the fair play rating and, if necessary, the rating in the European Championship qualification are taken into account.
