Vladimir Guerrero Shines in Preseason Game Despite Blue Jays’ Loss

Vladimir Guerrero had two of the Toronto Blue Jays’ four hits in a 2-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday in a preseason game.

Guerrero is ready for the Jays’ season to begin in the coming days as evidenced by his .463 batting average in practice.

Jays starter Chris Bassitt worked five innings. He is responsible for the two runs scored by the Phillies on five hits. Bassitt also had four strikeouts.

Trea Turner and Alec Bohm drove in the Phillies’ runs in the win.

Aaron Nola (2-1) had four strikeouts, with one walk in 5.2 innings. He gave up two hits. Reliever Max Lazar made the save, getting the final two outs of the game.

Toronto is 13-16 this spring.

The Blue Jays will play their final preseason game on Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

No hit for Julien

Édouard Julien did not get a hit in an official at-bat in an 8-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles by the Minnesota Twins.

The Quebecer, hitting .333 in training, also had a walk.
