The president of FC Vittoria Calcio ASD, Toti Miccoli, after having just celebrated the jump in category to Excellence last Sunday, has now decided to resign.
The resignation came today with an official statement, the last as president. Rumors had been circulating for some time of some misunderstandings which had seen the company split in two: on one side the president Toti Miccoli, on the other the general director Giuseppe Cilio. At the center of the misunderstandings is the redetermination of managerial positions with the associated reformulation of leadership.
“There is a time to win. And there is a time to take a step back. When, in May 2022, I had the recklessness and the courage or perhaps the madness to bring football back to Vittoria with the aim of reviving it, I was considered a madman. And maybe I really was. The situation from which I had to start again was all uphill. Vittoria Calcio almost no longer existed for years and the stadium was unusable and unusable, from the stands to the turf. But I had a dream: to bring football back to my city, reopen the stadium, fill the ‘Turi Ottone’ curve, see the stands full and bring Vittoria back to the hearts of the people of Vittoria. That dream has become reality today: a full stadium again, the promotion to Excellence and a city literally crazy for Vittoria Calcio”.
“I threw my heart over the obstacle – he adds – I spent sleepless nights, I dedicated every single day of the last two years to what was and is our dream. And I did it together with one very determined management team and thanks to an exceptional staff. I don’t want to go into further detail about what has happened in recent months, because I have always thought that facts speak louder than words and because that dream called Vittoria Calcio must continue. This is why today I will hand over the Vittoria Calcio title to my city, in the person of the mayor, Francesco Aiello, free of charge. I wish whoever succeeds me all the best, because Vittoria Calcio is the heritage of all of us. THANK YOU VITTORIA!!!”.
