Violence Erupts at Fiumanese-Godo Match: Referee Calls Police

There are just a few moments left until the end of Fiumanese-Godo, a second category group N match at the Comunale Lombardi-Rossi-Solfrini field in via Berlinguer in Predappio, of which Fiumana is the first fraction coming from Forlì. The home team sails in the upper quarters of the table, between fourth and fifth place and is winning against the Ravenna team 2-1, thanks to a brace from Djenis Ibraimi. The race is nervous but not particularly bad; it is directed by the referee of the Faenza section, Martina Magnani, whistleblower since June 2021 and in the third direction of a Second League match in this last period of the year.

Despite the tensions, everything seems to be able to end without problems, but instead the brawl is just around the corner: the coach of the Ravenna team Silvia Citta, the soul of the rossoblù team, makes the last substitution. The player leaves the field, perhaps not with the aplomb that would be necessary but at this point anything really happens.

A local manager suddenly shows off a baseball bat – who would ever have a baseball bat on a football field – and the opposing factions begin a tumultuous moment, which ends with a punch in the face immediately, outside the pitch, near the changing rooms, by a Godo player, probably hit by a Fiumanese player who left the pitch even without having been replaced. Referee Magnani realizes the impossibility of continuing the match, decrees an early end and calls the police. The Carabinieri intervene and put an end to the absolutely gratuitous and unmotivated moment of violence in a football match. From a criminal point of view, the intervention of the Carabinieri will address the issue, while from a footballing point of view, only the report from referee Magnani will be valid and tomorrow, in the late afternoon, more will be known with the decisions of the Sports Judge of Ravenna, lawyer Giacomo Valgimigli. Sports Judge who, however, could take some time to decide on any disqualifications which are expected to be heavy for the people involved, some of whom probably should not have been inside the playing area (archive photo on the right).
