VII Edition of Montevives Adventure Raid: A Training Experience in Nature

Last Wednesday, Sierra Elvira hosted the VII edition of the Montevives adventure raid, organized by the teachers of the training cycles of physical and sports activities at the secondary school with this name of Las Gabias, with its students involved in the organization and execution of a event as complex as a training experience. 260 students from schools in La Zubia, Las Gabias or Atarfe (Granada), Adra (Almería), Baena (Córdoba) and Seville participated in this didactic action with a practical component to guarantee the acquisition of the established learning results and professional skills. in their training program.

The competitions, which took place in the middle of nature, covered sections on foot, by bicycle and in kayak and paddle surfing through the Cubillas reservoir, climbing, archery, mountain trails or adventure circuits with rappelling, zip lines and online progression of life. The raid was based once again on orientation, since the 104 participating teams did not know the route a priori, having to accurately and quickly interpret the maps that the organization gave them both at the time of departure and in the various transitions. . Teamwork, physical effort, concentration and adaptation to the natural environment were some of the keys.

The IES Montevives also had the collaboration of the Atarfe City Council, the Veleta Orienteering Club, the Andalusian Federation of Orienteering Sports, the Las Gabias City Council and the University of Granada.
