Citizen questions

With the possible return of the Geese, some are worried about the consequences of the measures taken to keep them away from the beaches. On this subject, Councilor Brigitte Voss mentioned that the new environment department was working in concert with environmental specialists in order to implement practices that did not compromise the safety and survival of birds while encouraging them to nest outside public beaches.

Concerns have also been raised about the possible closure of the Croisée des Laurentides on April 30. The mayor wanted to mention that the City was in communication with the MRC des Laurentides and the Integrated Health and Social Services Center of the Laurentides (CISSSLAU) in order to find solutions to this important issue.

Sustainability of green spaces

The City acquired the land and the building located at 16-24 chemin Tour-du-Lac (miniature golf course) for $1,750,000. This acquisition will allow the City to ensure that projects compatible with the vision can be developed in this key sector for citizen services. We are talking in particular about a project to expand the park.

Other lots have already been acquired and others are in the process of being acquired in the Camping and Outdoor Center sector in order to perpetuate the existing trails.

Promote sport

In order to encourage young people to persevere in sport, the City adopted a resolution with the aim of issuing 3 sports scholarships to Agathois athletes. This support will be used in particular to cover the costs of their participation in a national volleyball competition which will soon take place in Edmonton. Thus, Éloise Turpin, Arielle Bastien and Laurie Bastien will receive scholarships of $500 each.

Speaking of volleyball, the LLL beach volleyball tournament will be held this year from July 18 to 21 at Major Beach. Furthermore, remember that it was also announced at the February session that the 3rd edition of the Laurentides Cup open water swimming competition will be held this year on July 6 at Lac des Sables.

Also, in order to offer more time to pickleball enthusiasts who have increased in number each year, the City confirmed that 2 new pickleball courts will be accessible this year at the Sainte-Agathe campsite.

Finally, amounts were also granted to the Sainte-Agathe Minor Baseball Association and the FC Boréal Soccer Club to finance some of their activities.

Help

The City has provided amounts and confirmed agreements with several community organizations in the region to support them in their service projects for the Agathois population. We are talking, among others, about the Laurentides Young Seniors hockey league, À Vélo Sans Age and Palliacco.
