Ukraine will be at the Euro thanks to its victory over Iceland in the play-offs

Thanks to a goal from Mikhaïlo Moudrik late in the match, Ukraine qualified for the next Euro by defeating Iceland this Tuesday evening in the final of path B of the play-offs (2-1). Sergei Rebrov’s men will be in Group E with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.

In the first half, Albert Gudmundsson gave Iceland the lead in the 30th minute. After playing several Ukrainians, the Genoa player found the fault with a cross shot from 20 meters. Nine minutes later, Ukraine thought they would equalize, but Roman Yaremtchouk’s goal was disallowed for an offside position.

The locals ended up getting back on track with a well-placed shot from Viktor Tsigankov (54th). Finally, Moudrik qualified his country with a shot close to the Icelandic post (84th).
