The judoka from TSV Peiting made up for their opening defeat. In front of the home crowd it worked against a former second division team.

Peiting – There was a hint of relief in Felix Ditschek’s voice. “It ended well for us,” said the team spokesman and TSV Peiting fighter after the successful home appearance against TSV Teisendorf. The hosts defeated the former second division team 11:8. Things were not made easy for the people of Peitingen. “There were a lot of exciting fights,” reported Ditschek.

The success was important because the Peitinger team remained in the southern season of the district league in the race for a place in the league final. The final tournament will take place on June 15th in Geretsried. The best two teams from the north and the south are eligible to start there. After the opening defeat at JV Ammerland-Münsing, the Peitingers were already under a bit of pressure at home.

It was a good thing that significantly more athletes were able to play again than at the start of the league. The team now also had the veterans Andreas Neureuther and Tarek Jamal available. “That made a big difference,” said Ditschek. This time the Peitingen team could even have filled all classes, but a mishap (a fighter’s passport couldn’t be found) ensured that one position in the 90 kilo class remained unfilled. Fortunately, the faux pas had no consequences in terms of the overall result.

After the first round it was not yet clear which team would leave the hall as the winner, but the score was 5:5. Pius Häuserer lost his fight in the heavyweight division. Roman Schmid won against it. In the class up to 66 kilos, the hosts got both points – Matthias Kerler and youngster Leo Fabel were each successful. Ditschek had special praise for Fabel: “He fought really well twice.” Max Dietl made his adult debut in the class up to 73 kilos, but had to admit defeat. Lucca Vent however, won his duel.

Neureuther lived up to his role as a point guarantee by winning the class up to 90 kilos. The Peitingers had to leave the second duel in this weight category unoccupied. Jamal (up to 83 kilos) had some bad luck: He had an exciting comparison with his Austrian opponent Elias Vegh, but got caught in a hold seconds before the end and lost. Basti Hickl also remained without a win.

    TSV Peiting with tactical change

In the second round, Ditschek won the heavyweight division. Schmid had to admit defeat, although Ditschek confirmed that he had “reached the limit”. Unfortunately, the commitment was not rewarded. In the 66 kilo class, Kerler scored another point. The other duel ended in a 0-0 draw as both teams did not field a fighter. The Peitingers did it for tactical reasons, the Teisendorfers did it involuntarily. Their second 66kg judoka was banned from the second round because of a “prohibited technique” he used in the first round.

This is how Peiting’s Fabel was used in the 73 kilo class, which was higher for him. Fighting there “is a big difference,” said Ditschek, paying respect. Fabel even managed a victory. Vent was also successful. In the class up to 90 kilos there was another victory for Neureuther and a defeat without a fight due to an unoccupied fight. Jamal scored another point in the 81 kilo class, this time coming off the mat as the winner. Meanwhile, Hickl had to bow to his opponent.

TSV Peiting has its sights set on the league final

“We are super happy with the win,” said Ditschek. The people of Peitingen were also satisfied with the performance, especially since there were a few spectators in the hall. The next round of competition in the district league is scheduled for April 20th. The Peitingers compete at TuS Töging, which takes the top position in the southern relay with 3:1 points. Last season the Peitingers won 13:7 in Töging.

On paper the people of Peitingen had enough fighters and also the potential “for a higher league,” says Ditschek. However, there are rarely enough athletes available. So the squad is just too thin, says Ditschek. After all, some TSV judoka are still fighting in the Bayernliga and are supporting FC Friedberg. Last season they included Jamal, Neureuther and Sebastian Harter; However, the latter is currently suffering a long-term injury. The Bayernliga season starts for Friedberger on April 13th.
