Tordesillas has established itself as the epicenter of national badminton by hosting the nineteenth edition of the prestigious ‘Villa del Treaty’ Tournament. During March 2 and 3, the Municipal Pavilion has witnessed exciting confrontations between the best rackets from 16 autonomous communities.

Organized by the Tordesillas City Council and the Tordesillas Badminton Club, the tournament attracted 213 elite players from all over Spain, consolidating their position in the national ranking. Despite having 125 players on the waiting list, the competition was an unprecedented success.

In this edition, the youth of the participants in the Under 15 and Under 19 categories did not prevent the tournament from reaching new heights of intensity and excitement. Despite the absence of local players on the court, the dedication and skills demonstrated in each match made it clear why the competition is an unavoidable event on the national calendar.

Saturday’s qualifying and semi-final rounds kept spectators in suspense from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., while Sunday’s finals, held between 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., sealed the fate of the participants.

The winners in the various categories are worth mentioning. Guillermo Muñoz, from Club La Encina, won the victory in the men’s individual 15, while in the men’s individual 19, Mario Rodríguez from Granada stood out as champion. In the female categories, Inés Poncela and Mariela Vázquez were proclaimed winners in the Sub 15 and Sub 19, respectively.

The duels in the men’s, women’s and mixed doubles categories also maintained the intensity, highlighting the skill and coordination of the participants. Raúl Molina and Guillermo Muñoz, Mariona Ying Muñoz and Núria Serra, and Raúl Hernández and Belén Soto were just some of the winners who made history in the ‘Treaty Village’.
