The Superior Court of Xustiza of Galicia (TSXG) has dismissed the appeal that Pontevedra CF SAD filed against the ruling that forced the entity to pay 7,000 euros to Toni Otero as compensation for his dismissal as sports director, a position he held between June 2021 and February 2023, also spending the last month as first team coach.
Pontevedra informed Otero of the termination of his contract by letter on February 27, 2023, explaining that the club was immersed in an organizational restructuring and proposing a change of course to achieve the set objectives and that, “unfortunately”, it was a fact It was proven that the level of performance was not adequate and that the sporting results were far below what was expected. The entity recognized the dismissal as unfair and paid the amount of 5,031.76 euros plus deductions for retention that had to be applied.
Otero then filed a lawsuit against Pontevedra CF SAD. The sentence was handed down on July 14, 2023, and was upheld, declaring the dismissal inadmissible and condemning the club to pay 7,000 euros in compensation. The maroon entity filed an appeal, which was not challenged by the other party, and which has now been dismissed. An appeal may be filed against this ruling within a period of ten business days.
