The Suárez Puerta is a fortress: the spectacular data at Avilés’ home

Many of the best teams throughout the football universe have something in common. Those who aspire for promotions, those who dream of winning titles, those who dominate their League… They all agree on the same thing: we have to become great at home. And that seems to be the new Avilés slogan. And yesterday marked four months since the blue and white team, in Manolo Sánchez Murias’s first game on the bench, lost for the last time at home. Since that November 19 against Rayo Cantabria, the Avilesinos have managed to build a strength in their own home that has allowed them to dream again of a possible promotion. And, thanks to this, they are now closer than ever.

That November 19, no one was able to predict what was going to happen. After a turbulent week, with the dismissal of Emilio Cañedo and the arrival of the coach from Gijón, it seemed that Avilés was going to stare into space. Furthermore, the result against Rayo Cantabria did not help us to be optimistic. Although the blue and white team took the lead in the early stages of the duel, with a goal from Joel del Pino, the Cantabrians managed to turn the duel around thanks to goals from Delgado and Isaac. And, to make matters worse, one of the key pieces of the team, Edu Cortina, had to leave the match in the first half. Everything seemed to be against it, but Avilés knew how to turn the tables.

After visiting the Marino, the Arandina arrived at the town of Adelantado at the next meeting. The blue and white team started their best streak of the season against the Burgos team, adding three consecutive victories against Covadonga and Compostela, the latter also in their fiefdom to end the calendar year with the best possible taste in their mouths. 2024 started on the wrong foot, as the blue and white lost in their trips against Ourense and Deportivo Fabril, but returning to Suárez Puerta gave them a smile back. Against Racing Villalbés they returned to winning ways to achieve, once again at home, the first victory of the season.

From there came the draw against Valladolid B, Cayón and the best match of the season, the spectacular 4-0 win against Coruxo. And, of course, we must add the resounding victory last Sunday against Vetusta. In total, in these last four months, Avilés has added 17 points out of a possible 24. Thanks to this figure, the blue and white team are closer than ever to the promotion play-off places, just one point behind Langreo in fifth place. Now it remains to continue that streak against a Zamora that visits Suárez Puerta in negative dynamics, with two draws and one defeat in its last three games, so the scenario is conducive to continue turning the Aviles municipal team into a fortress that continues doing dream to your fans. If the atmosphere next Sunday is similar to that experienced against Oviedo Vetusta, Avilés still has time to aspire for everything.

Tickets at five euros for subscribers

After achieving a great atmosphere in the duel against Oviedo Vetusta, Avilés wants to repeat the same in this Sunday’s match against Zamora. To this end, it has launched a promotion for its subscribers, in which interested parties can withdraw a ticket in exchange for five euros and three for ten. The club store will be open to subscribers from Monday to Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It will also have evening hours on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, match day, the store will open at 4:30 p.m. Aside from the promotion for subscribers, the usual prices for the general public are maintained, these being the following: over 30 years old, 15 euros; over 65 years old, 10 euros; people between 18 and 30, 8 euros; young people from 7 to 17 years old, 5 euros and youth players and children under 7 years old; free.
