The Return of the One-Handed Backhand: Grigor Dimitrov’s Rise to the Top of Tennis

Much has been written about the end of the one-handed backhand with the ousting of Stefanos Tsitsipas from the top 10. Fortunately with the current level offered by the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, it is very likely that this shot will return to the top of tennis by little. If Grigor qualifies for the final this will be the case because he is only 65 points behind de Minaur, currently 10th in the ATP rankings.

This is good news for tennis because it is obvious that a one-handed backhand gives another dimension to the game. Moreover, the purity of Dimitrov’s is necessarily reminiscent of Federer’s.
