The Port of Vigo closed the month of February with the best traffic data in its history and remained, for the second consecutive month, as the first terminal in the country with regard to the automotive industry, according to the balance presented last Friday at the Council. of Administration of the Port Authority.

After the Council, the president of the Port, Carlos Botana, appeared at a press conference and confirmed that, in the second month of the year, total traffic at the Olívica terminal reached 414,227 tons, which represents an increase of 16.09% with compared to the month of January and an accumulated annual increase (January and February) of 8.04%.

By merchandise, the Port of Vigo has experienced increases in automotive (54.8% in February and 35.34% accumulated), in fertilizers and feed (61.18% monthly and 53.05% accumulated), in preserves (29.11% in February and 14.25% accumulated) or automotive parts (133.47% in February and 121% accumulated).

In fact, the Vigo terminal has once again positioned itself as the first in Spain in automobile traffic for the second consecutive month, ahead of Valencia and Barcelona. Increases have also been recorded in monthly and accumulated container traffic (26.28% and 8.27%, respectively).

On the negative side, there have been decreases in traffic of fish oil (-71.5% monthly and -49% accumulated), coal and coke (-40.85% monthly and -28% accumulated), raw granite ( -18.5% monthly and -29.1% accumulated), metals (-31% monthly and -15.3% accumulated) or frozen fishing (-2% monthly and -3.39% accumulated).
