The Port of Las Palmas increases its surface area for concessions to companies by 40,000 square meters |

The Port of Las Palmas has been, for decades, one of the main drivers of the Canary Islands economy. Its strategic position in the Atlantic, its excellent infrastructure and its range of services have attracted numerous local and international companies, becoming an important logistics and commercial hub in the Archipelago. For this reason, the recent news of its expansion by 40,000 square meters for concessions to companies has been received with great expectation.

This expansion is part of the project for the second phase of the La Isleta Logistics Zone, located in the southern area of the Port of Las Palmas. The first phase of this project began in 2022 and, after two years of work, an increase of 80,000 square meters has been achieved for commercial and logistics activity. Now, with the expansion of 40,000 more square meters, the aim is to continue promoting the economic and business development of the area.

The works of this second phase of the La Isleta Logistics Zone will be carried out on an area of more than 130,000 square meters, which means an expansion of 50% compared to the current surface. Work is expected to begin in the coming months and will last approximately two years. Once completed, a wide variety of services will be made available to businesses, including the storage, handling and distribution of goods.

This new expansion of the Port of Las Palmas will not only create more space for companies, but will also generate new jobs and opportunities on the island. It is estimated that around 300 new direct jobs will be created and numerous companies in the logistics and commercial sector will benefit, as well as those that use the port as a distribution platform in the region.

This news has been well received by the companies that operate in the Port of Las Palmas, since it represents an improvement in competitiveness and an increase in the offer of services and spaces for the development of their activities. Furthermore, it is expected that this expansion will attract new companies to the area, further diversifying the port’s economic activity.
