The Obsolescence of Separate Professional Tennis Circuits: Is a Unified Tour Inevitable?

What the latest developments around the evolution (or revolution) of the structures of world tennis clearly expose is the obsolescence of two separate professional circuits, one for female players (the WTA, created in 1973 ), the other for players (the ATP, created in 1972). Of course the most important tournaments on the planet are already all, with the exception of the end-of-year Masters, combined events which welcome girls and boys with equal prize money. But each Tour also retains its own meetings and specificities, for the moment.
