The Pro Recco Judo company: a story of passion and success The Pro Recco Judo company: a story of passion and success.

Way back in 1969, a group of sports enthusiasts came together with an ambitious goal: to found the Pro Recco Judo company. But this was not just a sporting undertaking, it also wanted to be an educational project.

The idea of creating a healthy and welcoming environment, where young and old could cultivate a passion for sport, materialized around the tatami (mat) of the gym.

Here, in these rooms where training and competitions took place, the members of Pro Recco Judo found above all friends who shared the same vision: sport as a tool to face life with serenity and security.

In over four decades, Pro Recco Judo has established itself as one of the most authoritative companies not only in Liguria, but in many regions of Italy.

Its prestige is not limited to the competitive field, but also extends to the youth sector, confirming its commitment to educating and training future generations through sport.

Pro Recco Judo has become a point of reference for those seeking not only sporting excellence, but also values of integrity, discipline and solidarity.

Its history is a testimony to the dedication and passion of its founders and partners, who dedicated their free time, tirelessly to transform a dream into a lasting reality.

Birth and growth of the Pro Recco Judo club: A story of passion and success.

Martino Zeni, an insurer of Piedmontese origins, has made his passion for judo a point of reference in his life. When he moved to Liguria, he decided to share this passion with the local community.

In 1969, together with his friend Giovanni Revello, also a judoka and builder in Rapallo, Zeni started the foundation of a judo gym in Recco.

Their determination leads them to seek out and find a group of equally passionate people. At the end of 1969, engineer Alessandro Mantero, building contractor and city councilor, offered his studio for company meetings.

Alongside him, influential figures such as the mayor of Recco Antonio Ferro, Sebastiano Bertagnon, Lorenzo Moltedo, Giovanni Zanoni, Agostino Massone, Giuseppe Lavarello, Vittorio Forti, Luigi Lanata and Carlo Giommi, come together to create the Pro Recco Judo society.

On October 27, 1969, at nine pm sharp, Pro Recco Judo officially took shape. During the first year of activity, a new talent joins the company: Giuseppe Figari, known to all as Rudy.

With the guidance of the instructor Tino, Rudy engages in regional competitions, with his gaze fixed on the Genoa teams, whose level represents an ambitious goal.
The collaboration between Tino and Rudy bears fruit, and the first successes arrive soon.

The victories begin to color the podiums with the white and light blue colors of Pro Recco Judo. In 1976, black belt Rudy Figari, despite the challenges associated with his age, decided to dedicate himself to the education of young judokas by becoming an instructor.

2003 marks a significant moment for the club, with the first medal won at youth level thanks to the group of athletes formed by Massimo Mancioppi and Rudy Figari.

This medal marks the beginning of a series of successes.

Today, Pro Recco Judo can boast of being one of the top 20 in Italy. Its athletes, divided into different categories, are followed with dedication by Gabriele and Giorgia Mancioppi, Ciccio Casareto, Stefano Musso, Matteo Figari, Enrico Graffione and Massimo Mancioppi.

This group of instructors carries on the tradition of passion and commitment established by the founders over half a century ago. Antonio Bovetti
