Members of the Last Generation group, warning about irreversible climate change, disrupted the awards ceremony at the Ski World Cup final in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. They threw confetti, took positions at the steps, but were not given space for anything else.
Despite the fact that their protest could sound in favor of maintaining the conditions for skiing in the future, they were uncompromisingly removed. Several stewards carried them away.

‼️ It’s not about us. It’s about all of us. You too, reader of this post. The action may not interest you now. But what the government does now will determine the future of all of us. pic.twitter.com/x2JqcCsQTO

As if it really was the last cry of winter. Perhaps not only this year’s. There was no shortage of explanations for the protest on the networks. “The government is still not acting in the face of the escalating climate disaster,” the movement justified the protest. “It’s not just the ski areas that are at risk, but also our very survival. Climate protection in the Constitution,” the post continued.

Former Austrian skier and now climate activist Julian Schütter also supports the protests. He, too, according to Austrian media, is asking the government to be responsible for preserving “the chance to maintain the possibility of skiing in the coming decades.”
