The Key to Persib Bandung Defeating Persikabo 1973 with 10 Players

Gianyar – Persib Bandung continued its positive trend after defeating Persikabo 1973 in the League 1 continuation with a final score of 3-1. The match between the two teams was held at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali, Friday 15 March 2024.

Persib Bandung opened the scoring through David da Silva’s penalty kick in the 3rd minute. Previously, the Maung Bandung squad was awarded a penalty after David was fouled by goalkeeper Syahrul Trisna in the forbidden box.

Stefano Beltrame increased Persib Bandung’s lead in the 57th minute. Stefano managed to take advantage of Ciro Alves’ low pass on the left side of Persikabo’s defense.

Winning by two goals did not make Persib slack. David da Silva again showed his sharpness by scoring a long-range goal in the 65th minute. Meanwhile, Persikabo’s consolation goal was scored by Yandi Sofyan in the 86th minute.

Persib coach, Bojan Hodak, said that the victory over Persikabo was very important to maintain the positive trend in League 1. So far, Persib Bandung has won four wins in a row.

“This is important because we won four games in a row and we haven’t lost in the last six games,” said Bojan after the match.

This coach from Croatia also said that his team’s positive results were not achieved easily. Even though they were ahead, Persikabo was able to trouble the Maung Bandung Squad’s defense.

“I said before the match that this would be a difficult battle. Honestly, we did score an early goal but Persikabo played better after that,” he explained.

Persib actually appeared with 10 players after Dedi Kusnandar was sent off by the referee in the 36th minute. However, this situation did not make Persib Bandung’s game slack.

Marc Klok cs actually played well and endangered Laskar Padjadjaran’s goal several times. Evidently, Persib scored two goals when appearing with 10 players.

“Maybe the good thing is, when we started playing with ten players, we actually played better, that’s because Persikabo played much more attacking and that probably left a lot of space behind the defense,” he said.

“So that’s why we relied on counter attacks, two goals were scored and I think there should have been 2-3 other goals. So overall I’m happy with these three points,” continued Bojan.

With this victory, Persib is increasingly comfortable in second place in the League 1 standings with a collection of 54 points from 29 matches. Meanwhile, Persikabo is still slumped at the bottom of the standings.
