As a family man, LeBron James always seeks to protect his children, starting with his eldest son, Bronny. However, this desire to deflect criticism of him could prove more harmful than anything else according to some.
Undoubtedly more anticipated than those of any other player, his university debut has so far left something to be desired. Bronny James is struggling to shine in the colors of South California, where he is most often used as a substitute. The fact that he is the direct descendant of an NBA star such as LeBron James of course has nothing to help him and rather tends to increase the pressure around him.
As such, the status now assigned to him as a simple pick in the 2025 Draft is not really surprising. This nevertheless earned him some mockery which did not please his father at all, whose scathing reaction was subsequently suppressed made a big noise. LeBron’s defense harmful to Bronny?
God never blesses you twice. He wasn’t going to give all that talent to LeBron and do the same to his son. The comparison was inevitable but LeBron must be careful. When Bronny plays well and says he’s better than some NBA players, people will remember that. I understand he’s his son, but you have to be careful… Bronny doesn’t have your athleticism or your size. He’s different and because of you, he’s going to get lynched.

Indeed, LeBron may extol the merits of Bronny excessively, observers are not fooled and can easily realize the reality. And the latter is not meant to be so beautiful. Thus, the young guard’s low averages in NCAA do not justify such efforts on the part of his father for the moment. His defensive slaughter, not necessarily quantifiable, is not enough to keep up appearances.
Therefore, it would perhaps be better for the leader of the Lakers to let his eldest son make his way with USC without mentioning him as often. Or at least by not showering him with praise that he will have difficulty honoring on the floor and in the rest of his career.
