The Future of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels at Borussia Dortmund

Marco Reus’ time at Borussia Dortmund appears to be coming to an end.

It has long been speculated that the 34-year-old Reus will dare to embark on a new adventure in the autumn of his career. Clubs from the USA and Turkey are said to have expressed their interest. An end to his career still seemed out of the question. Now the tide may have turned.

As the “Ruhr Nachrichten” reports, the BVB veteran could be about to end his career.

Hummels is still hoping for a European Championship nomination

Another veteran, 35-year-old Mats Hummels, still has several options open. While the club is looking to extend his contract, the player himself is still unsure.

If he is not considered by Julian Nagelsmann for the European Championships, he could decide to end his career, which has already been speculated about.

Hans-Joachim Watzke spoke to “DAZN” about the future of the long-standing top performers: “At some point it will come to a point where we lose two people who have done a lot for Borussia Dortmund. But you then deal with it, it has always happened .”

Reus and Hummels celebrated four titles together, and in addition to three successes in the national Supercup, they lifted the DFB Cup in the 2020/21 season. Hummels also secured two German championship titles (2010/11 and 2011/12).
