The Future of Anderlecht’s Young Players: Key Decisions to be Made

Jesper Fredberg will have his work in the coming weeks and months. The sporting boss of RSC Anderlecht talks about four young players having to make a decision. One file is gradually becoming urgent.

Zeno Debast is still under contract until mid-2025. He will leave in the summer, but we doubt he will hit the jackpot. With only one year left on their contract, Anderlecht cannot go all the way, clubs know that too.

Have Sardella signed

Kristian Arnstad and Francis Amuzu also face an important choice. Arnstad will undoubtedly look for another employer. He has to play in his best position and that is not possible at Anderlecht. Will he sign and leave on loan, or will he permanently close the door behind him? Amuzu is a big earner and has barely played this season due to injuries. Can he still show himself to foreign teams in the play-offs? If that is not the case, a contract extension would be the best solution for both parties.

The most pressing file, however, is Killian Sardella. The right back has become one of the better right backs in the Jupiler Pro League. Technically strong, defensively very reliable and also versatile, because he can also play centrally and even as a left back. In addition, Sardella is still only 21 years old. Having Sardella re-signed is therefore very important for Anderlecht. Louis Patris is one level lower.

Turning the tide at Anderlecht

Anderlecht must turn the tide in this area in the coming months and years. In recent years they were happy when a young talent signed. But often that only happened for 1 or 2 years. The players often had the power due to the club’s difficult sporting and financial position.

However, Anderlecht is heading towards the top again thanks to the good work of Fredberg and Riemer. Can they therefore contract the young players for longer, so that they can ask for the absolute jackpot for the many talents? That is the next step on the way to the top.
