The Case of Marcello Viola: Impartiality and Allegiances in Professionalism

MILANO – The social media court – but not only… – has already issued the sentence. As usual, cutting edge, without thinking that behind each person there is a professionalism and a sense of responsibility that go beyond simple support, especially for those who, for years, have dedicated their lives to events of much greater importance than football, such as the fight against the mafia.

Who is Marcello Viola

But sometimes, being public figures with roles that must guarantee maximum impartiality, we should perhaps focus on the opportunity to blatantly expose ourselves to personal passions that can then backfire. Thus, for several days, practically since Wednesday, i.e. twenty-four hours after the search by the Guardia di Finanza in the Milan headquarters on the indication of the Milan Prosecutor’s Office which opened an investigation on club ownership – RedBird or Elliott again? – and the current CEO Furlani and his predecessor Gazidis were registered in the register of suspects for obstructing the supervisory activity of the FIGC, the “responsible” of this whole affair has become Marcello Viola. Born in 1957, originally from Cammarata (Agrigento), Viola has been Milan’s chief prosecutor since April 2022 and his great fault is that of being an avowed Inter fan.
