With this renewed product, the newspaper redoubles its informative commitment to the business world. To achieve this, it will have new sections, new collaborators and a renewed ambition to lead the economic debate. The supplement wants to be a reflection of the economic and business reality, which is why it will be a space where you can learn about everything from large multinationals from around the world to stories of SMEs and freelancers from our home. Emerging companies, research projects and innovation will be represented there, and throughout its pages we will also be able to find detailed readings about the origins of companies that are still alive or the great businessmen of the history of Catalonia and the world.

International window

To face this new stage, the supplement will have all the journalists from the newspaper’s Economy section, plus some of its regular collaborators, with signatures such as David Valero-Carreras, Irene Riart, Marc Amat or Toni Vall. The supplement also aims to be a window into the economy and businesses around the world, so it will include the stories of Global Periscopeby the network of ARA correspondents.

The section wants to bring foreign companies closer to us, explain information related to foreign trade and Catalan exports to the world. This bet to expand foreign economic information will be rounded off with the weekly publication of an article from the prestigious British weekly The Economistwith whom the ARA maintains a collaboration agreement.

The renewed supplement opens with an interview with Jaume Guardiola

One of the main novelties of the renewed supplement will be that it will have an opinion forum, with a chorus of voices from some of the most prestigious Catalan economists, such as Andreu Mas-Colell, Oriol Aspachs, Judit Vall, Lídia Farré, Joan Ramon Rovira and Salvador Guillermo. The business association Femcat will also contribute its point of view. The supplement intends to accompany the great economic debates that surround the world of business and workers with all the rigor.

The product also wants to echo the most prominent movements in the domes of the companies with the weekly publication of the Signing marketwhich reviews the main news and changes in the company’s leadership.

Savings management and labor consultancy

All of this will maintain the commitment of the ARA Economics section to consumer issues to connect directly with readers’ domestic concerns. Pompeu Fabra University professor Andrei Boar and consultant Alexandra Masó will publish the sections the pocket and the Employment consultancyrespectively, in which they address practical advice for daily money management and savings, on the one hand, and questions raised by readers on all kinds of problems in relation to the world of work, from relationships at work to to doubts of a business nature.

The first number of the new supplement will be published with the paper edition of Sunday 10 March and will include an interview with Jaume Guardiola, president of the Cercle d’Economia and one of the most important Catalan managers of recent decades. In the conversation with the ARA, Guardiola reviews the great challenges of the Catalan economy, addresses details of his career in the financial world and explains how he sees the hypothetical return to Catalonia of the headquarters of the large companies that left after 1-O.
