Telekom Baskets Bonn Secure Home Advantage in Basketball Champions League Quarter-Finals

The Telekom Baskets Bonn have secured home advantage in the quarter-finals of the Bundesliga duel in the Basketball Champions League against MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. The German runner-up won on Wednesday in Ludwigsburg with 85:81 (52:49) and finished first in Group J. The best throwers were Silas Melson from Ludwigsburg with 23 points. Glynn Watson (17) scored most often for Bonn.

While Bonn can now play twice at home in the best-of-three series in the quarterfinals, Ludwigsburg, as second in the group, has to play two games away. Both teams had already qualified for the round of the top eight before the match.

Bonn was more accurate in the first round. In the second quarter, Ludwigsburg played more concentratedly, especially on offense, and came closer and closer. After halftime, coach Josh King’s home team took the initiative and turned the game around. Ludwigsburg now had a higher hit rate, especially from the three-point line.

However, the hope of winning the group as hoped for quickly disappeared because at the beginning of the final quarter, Bonn was back on the scoreboard and equalized. As a result, the Telekom Baskets played with concentration, kept their shooting rate high and pulled away again. Whenever Ludwigsburg came close again, Bonn followed up.
