Svancer fourth at Big Air World Cup final – sport.ORF.at

Matej Svancer missed the podium in Big Air on Friday evening at the Freestyle World Cup finals in Tignes. The 19-year-old from Salzburg finished fourth in changeable conditions under floodlights, while his teammate Lukas Müllauer came eighth. Victory went to the American Alexander Hall, who was also ahead in the overall World Cup.

Svancer performed a spectacular Double Baron Flip with Critical Grab in the third round of the final, earning him 93.75 points. Together with the 86.50 points from his first jump, he ended up 2.75 points short of the third-placed Swiss Andri Ragettli. Müllauer did not land his jumps cleanly in the final and scored 154.75 points.

“The conditions weren’t exactly easy. We were in the final with two athletes, the level was high, but we can absolutely keep up,” said ÖSV head coach Martin Premstaller. In the women’s race, the Swiss Mathilde Gremaud secured the day’s victory and the World Cup trophy.

The Slopestyle World Cup final is on the program in Tignes on Saturday (1:30 p.m., live on ORF Sport +). Svancer received the highest rating in this competition in qualifying for an almost flawless run.
