Big amounts on bets from Jonay Porter
In both cases, a betting provider reported that bets on Porter’s under in threes against the Clippers and under in points were each the most popular bets of the day. There is now suspicion that Porter helped ensure that the bets were successful. According to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN), there is a limit on player bets between $1,000 and $2,000, and a source said several people tried to bet significantly higher amounts on Porter bets. Apparently it was up to $20,000.
According to NBA statutes, both players and team employees are not permitted to place bets on the NBA. Possible penalties include fines, suspension or even termination of the contract.
