The Hanami Judo School, in Oviedo, organized its second tournament last weekend for athletes between 3 and 12 years old. In total, about 170 judokas met in the capital of the Principality and spent a day in which, in addition to competing, they took the opportunity to coexist and strengthen friendships with colleagues from other cities in Asturias.
The competition took place at the Pumarín sports center and, in addition to the members of the local club, other athletes from Judo Lena and Judo La Calzada participated. The president, Aroa Ferreira, also wanted to thank “the families for the effort they made to participate” and that she made it possible for the tournament to take place.
The club, based in the La Florida neighborhood, also wanted to thank the collaboration of both the Oviedo City Council and Eduardo Lombardero, one of the pioneers of Asturian judo, who was collaborating with the club to carry out this initiative. A project that, explains Aroa Ferreira, they started a year ago “with a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of fear, the balance being very satisfactory.”
