Still stronger, Tadej Pogacar crushes the 6th stage of the Tour of Catalonia

Still going strong, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) once again showed that he had no equal on the 6th stage of the Tour of Catalonia, this Saturday, between Berga and Queralt. On the program: 5 passes including the exceptional ascent of Pradel. After a big skimming in the Pradel, eliminating in particular the Visma Sepp Kuss and Cian Uijtdebroeks, the Slovenian attacked on the climb of Sant Isidre at 30 km.

Pogacar then managed his lead on the final climb of the day to raise his arms almost a minute ahead (57”). Behind, the battle for the podium was tough, and the gaps widened in the valley. The Colombian Egan Bernal (Ineos) found color to finish 2nd ahead of Mikel Landa (Soudal Quick-Step).

Martinez falls back in the general

Lenny Martinez (Groupama-FDJ), was trapped in the valley connecting the last two climbs where Landa, Mas and Bernal escaped. The Frenchman finished the stage 8th in a group with Joao Almeida in particular. Martinez (20 years old) keeps the lead in the ranking of the best young people but loses three places in the general classification (7th) one second from 5th place.

Before the last stage on Sunday, in the streets of Barcelona, ​​Pogacar has a comfortable lead (3’31”) over Mikel Landa and should, without a fall, win the Tour of Catalonia for the first time.
