Arthur Fils (44th in the world) was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the ATP 250 tournament on clay in Santiago, beaten 6-3, 6/7 (5/7), 6-2 by Pedro Martinez (101st) on Friday. If he broke from the start of the match, the Frenchman, seeded N.3, then lost his next two service games, allowing the Spaniard to escape to win the first set. The next one was much closer, neither player giving up his bet, and it was Fils who was able to make the difference in the tie-break. In vain, because the third round was one-sided to the advantage of Martinez, who will face the Argentinian Sebastian Baez who defeated the Spaniard Jaume Munar 6-4, 6-4.

Son remained before the Chilean tournament on two eliminations in the 1st round in Buenos Aires then in Rio. The other Frenchman still in the running, Corentin Moutet (140th) must face the Chilean Nicolas Jarry (22nd and seeded N.1) in the evening, defending champion.
