Shohei Ohtani Arrives in South Korea with Wife Mamiko Tanaka Ahead of MLB Season Opener

Shohei Ohtani reached Korea with great fanfare.

The Japanese-born MLB superstar landed in South Korea on Friday with his new Dodgers teammates and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, for Los Angeles’ season opener against the Padres, scheduled for next week.

Ohtani announced on February 29 that he had gotten married, but earlier this week it was finally revealed that he was dating Tanaka.

“She’s a Japanese woman and I don’t really feel comfortable talking about my wedding date, the exact date and all that,” Ohtani, who remains tight-lipped about her personal life, told the era through the interpreter Ippei Mizuhara.

“But she’s a normal Japanese girl.”

Tanaka, a Japanese basketball player, is a 5-foot-11 forward/center, according to the Asia Basket website.
