Shaedon Sharpe Nearing Return for Portland Trail Blazers After Surgery

Good news for Portland Trail Blazers. Not in sight of the postseason, a goal that coach Chauncey Billups’ team will mathematically not be able to reach this season. Certainly, however, regarding the infirmary. Shaedon Sharpeone of the young stars of the Oregon-based franchise, is getting closer to returning on the parquet. This was revealed by Sean Highkin of Rose Garden Report.

Out January 12th for a abdominal muscle surgery, the former Kentucky player (despite never wearing his jersey) was assigned to the G-League affiliate to do some full workouts. The recovery and return program usually includes two further steps: the return to basketball played in the second professional league, and then the return to the NBA. A moment which, if this season were to arrive, could happen invery last part of the regular season. Most likely during the series of home games against New Orleans, Golden State and Houston in the second week of April.

It’s sure to be a pivotal offseason for Sharpe. The sale of Lillard, the choice of Scoot Henderson (who has paid very few dividends so far)… all factors that weigh on Shaedon’s shoulders. And that they entrust him with one fundamental responsibility: that of proposing himself – if he is able – as one of the drivers of the franchise alongside Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant. Before the injury, Sharpe averaged 15.9 points and 5 rebounds per game.
