San Isidro Celebrates Triple Victory Over Atenas in Argentine League Basketball Showdown

San Isidro had a party. San Francisco enjoyed the Feast of the Falcons. In a packed Antonio Manno stadium (formerly El Nido), in the eastern province, the team led by Daniel Beltramo had a triple celebration. They beat the “giant” Atenas for the first time, officially, by 86-79, stretching their consecutive victories to 17 (reaching the record held by San Martín de Corrientes and Instituto) and leading the Northern Conference of the Argentine League Basketball.

As expected, the match did not disappoint. It was a great duel between the Cordoba protagonists in the promotion. San Isidro gave everything to continue leading with 21 wins and five losses. While the cast led by Gustavo Peirone is the runner-up with 19 wins and six falls.

The San Francisco team had five players scoring 10 or more points: Manuel Lambrisca 14, Santiago Bruno 13 and César Lavoratornuovo, Jerónimo Suñé and Jeremías Diotto with 11 points.

Atenas had Juan Cruz Oberto as an outstanding figure with 28 points and 10 rebounds.

The General Bustos neighborhood team suffered in the shooting. He only scored 22 percent on triples, missing all eight attempted in the second half; He also got 71 percent in free practice.

The match between San Isidro and Atenas

The duel between San Isidro and Atenas started like a playoff game. Intense, disputed, “dog-faced”. The local team sought to attack with speed, while the Green team relied more on five-on-five play, and took a 14-8 lead in just over five minutes.

“Sani”, with a lot of impetus, reduced it to a double, but Peirone’s team responded quickly with two former players of the house, José Montero and Juan Cruz Oberto, and escaped again 19-12 with two minutes left in the first room.

Beltramo’s team, with a lot of mobility, closed the gap, although Atenas won the opening chapter 22-19.

San Isidro adjusted the brand more, mainly in the painting, where the General Bustos neighborhood team dominated, and after so much insistence, they entered the triples. With one from Gian Franco Sinconi, he went on to win for the first time in the match, at 3’20, 29-28.

Atenas did not find it easy to shoot, except with Oberto (10 points in the segment), who led the way, but the Falcons strengthened their board and were able to play their favorite game, run, to stretch the lead to 44-37, 1’40 from the end of the first half.

The Negro Peirone cast found variations in the quality of their squad, but San Isidro went into halftime leading 46-42.

Atenas quickly ran out without their foreigner Chris Ware as they reached five fouls in two minutes, while San Isidro, with full confidence, extended the difference to 10: 54-44 at 3’15 of the third episode.

The General Bustos neighborhood team stood in zonal defense to appease the local team, and responded with an 8-0 to narrow the margin: 54-52 with 3’20 left to play and with Oberto always the protagonist. But the pivot lacked company in attack, and Athens suffered.

While San Isidro “stretched” its scoring and took the fourth place 66-56.

El Verde once again bet on the zonal mark at the beginning of the final segment, and scored 5-0 to reduce it to 61-66 in just 30 seconds. Lambrisca responded quickly, with 5 points in a row so that the local team recovered the 10 difference.

The cast from the General Bustos neighborhood fought, but with a lot of nervousness and San Isidro celebrated in a big way.
