“We have three guys running around who should actually be ‘blockers’. Donyell does not close the passing line. In fact, we are simply responding a little too late here. He shoots it fantastically. But such a ball is never allowed in when there are so many people in front of it. You have to block that shot,” the national coach said in conversation with the NOS.
Germany took control of the match in the final phase, after the field game became somewhat ‘messy’ due to the necessary substitutions. “In my opinion, there was only one player in Germany who made the difference, that was Musiala. All the danger came from him. It is a shame that it happens again from a standard situation,” says Koeman about the 2-1, which came from a corner.
“It is initially a full violation by Rüdiger on Weghorst. He’s running right into Weghorst’s back. The ball falls on a shoulder and goes in. I still had doubts about whether the ball had completely crossed the line, but apparently they have a chip in the ball that indicates that it is a goal. Let’s believe that,” concludes the national coach.
