Rising Star: 12-Year-Old Judokate Qualifies for French Championships

Tessa Isaac-Tagliamento, 12 years old, judokate from Gorron in Mayenne managed to qualify for the French championships on Sunday March 24, 2024.

Originally from Guadeloupe, Tessa Isaac-Tagliamento was born in the Paris region in Argenteuil in 2011 and started judo at the age of three. She has lived in Gorron for 6 years. She is in 5th grade at Collège Francis-Lallart.

A passion

Today Tessa Isaac-Tagliamento is a blue-green belt, 2nd Vice regional champion, which qualified her for the French championships which will take place on March 24.

She trains in Mayenne on Wednesday and in Gorron on Tuesday and Friday. Judo is, above all, a passion for her. She follows Teddy Riner(1) with great attention, who, for her, is a mentor; his medals and victories impress her.

Tessa is also interested in the sporting careers of two women judokas, Amandine Buchard and Clarisse Agbégnénou. She loves this combat sport which gives her confidence but also respect for values.

A busy schedule

A sportswoman at heart, Tessa also plays football and music. His schedule is full. When asked about her future, Tessa replied: “I want to study sports.”

In a little corner of her mind, she is already thinking about the Olympic Games, “if not attending them”, as she says with her smile

Family too

Tessa’s performances can also be explained by the family context. All his brothers and sisters are judokas. His brother Enzo is a brown belt. He was selected for the regional competitions which took place on March 9 in Angers, 2nd year cadet category.

His little brother Lenny is 7 years old, he is a yellow belt. All three train at the Gorron dojo with Jean Gougeon. “They are my stars as I call them” confides his mother. “I am the happiest with their journey, nothing but happiness! » And this may just be the beginning…
