Rising Baseball Star Fabian Aquino Jung Signs Six-Year Contract with Pittsburgh Pirates

19-year-old Fabian Aquino Jung, born in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), signed a six-year professional contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates on March 21, 2024.

Aquino Jung’s journey in baseball began in a small league in the Dominican Republic before being coached by Pedro Fernández Ruiz (head coach of the Dohren Wild Farmers) and Georg Bull (U15/U18 national coach and head of the DBA – German Baseball Academy) in Sosúa/Cabarete was discovered and contracted. Under her leadership, he trained at the RuizBull Academy in Cabarete (Dominican Republic), where he has been active since its founding in 2021.

In 2022, Aquino Jungs, whose nationality is German, was appointed to the German U18 national baseball team by national coach Georg Bull. He represented Germany at various international tournaments, including the U18 European Championship in the Czech Republic in 2022 and the DRD International Baseball Academies Tournament (DIBAT) in Puerto Rico in 2023.

Due to several injured pitchers in the Bundesliga team, the Wild Farmers brought Aquino Jung to Germany in July 2023, where he made his debut in the 1st Baseball Bundesliga and reached the quarterfinals with Dohren. After the season ended, he returned to the Dominican Republic and continues to train at the RuizBull Academy.

In February 2024, he took part in the DIBAT in Puerto Rico with the U18 national team, where Aquino boys took 7th place with the German team. With his strong performance at the tournament, Aquino Jung convinced the scouts of the Pittsburgh Pirates, which ultimately led to his professional contract with the team.
