Remembering the Legacy of Kees Rijvers: A Dutch Football Icon

Kees Rijvers died last Monday at the age of 97. Rijvers has been a federal knight of the KNVB since 2023 and is commemorated before all matches in the Eredivisie and KKD.

A minute’s silence will be observed in all stadiums before the matches, in memory of the former national coach of the Dutch national team. This made the KNVB announced on Tuesday. Between 1946 and 1960, Rijvers also played 33 international matches for the Dutch national team, scoring ten goals.

In the Netherlands, Rijvers was national coach, but also head coach of FC Twente and PSV. He won three national titles and the UEFA Cup with the Eindhoven team.
