Remembering Kamel Guedih: The 7th Annual Judo Challenge at SMASH

The 7th Kamel-Guedih challenge recently took place at the SMASH (Milhaudoise sports and disabled activities hall). This day of challenge is always a great moment for the club, it is one of the major sporting events, but above all a day of remembrance, in tribute to this teacher, Kamel Guedih, founder of the judo club, who died too soon.

Club president Christine Goujon explains: “Twenty-seven clubs from different municipalities were invited, 24 are present. We have more than 700 judokas, from 2 years old to 14 years old, who have come to compete on the tatami mats.

This day requires a lot of work and preparation, which is why I would like to thank the town hall for its help but also two associations La Pastorale and the Milhaudois Rugby club whose help was invaluable to us. I also thank all the volunteers.”

Throughout the day, the fights continued, to the encouragement and applause of the public.

Naël Guedih finished first in the junior category and won the gold medal, while his brother Ilyan validated his refereeing module, a mandatory component for obtaining the black belt.

The first prize was awarded to the merged club of Lunel-Viel and Quissac by the president, vice-president Cyrille Gohier and professor Melina Tijeras.
