Referee Ejects Chris Paul for Calling Him ‘TikToker’: A Look Inside the NBA Drama

With 4 seconds left, it was really just a matter of the Pacers running down the clock, before referee Tony Brothers suddenly signaled a technical foul. He came two times to Warriors guard Chris Paul, so he was automatically ejected. Actually a side note, but Paul followed up with his media round.

“Tony said something to me and I contradicted him,” said Paul. “I called him a ‘TikToker’ and then got a tech. On the second T I told him he has too much power. He’s the judge, jury and all that stuff.”

Paul made a reference to an old TikTok video, which he shared on social media after his PK, in which Brothers was interviewed. There, the referee stated that he actually wanted to be a judge before becoming a referee in the NBA. “I’m not that much of a fan of basketball. What I mean by that is that I rarely watch it. (…) I actually wanted to be a judge. I didn’t know what kind of judge back then, but now I’m the judge Jurors, the prosecutor and the defense attorney, everything.”

Brothers isn’t the first referee Paul has clashed with. The point guard has been waging a small private war with Scott Foster for years, and there is supposedly a personal component here.
