In boxing, Jakob and Nelly both won silver medals.
Block 1 of the 58th Final of the Quebec Games – Sherbrooke 2024 concluded with 11 medals for Lanaudière: one gold, six silver and four bronze.
We learn through a press release that beyond the results and the medals, the sporting spirit of the region was greatly demonstrated during this first block.
Karate notably made a marked return this year, having not been present at the Quebec Games Final since 2019. Lanaudière created a surprise by winning five medals, including two silver. We also highlight the remarkable performance of Malik, aged just 12, who finished in fifth position in the fight.
Other great performances
Lanaudière was represented by two athletes in boxing, and both managed to stand out. Nelly won two fights, before losing in the final, emerging with the silver medal. After winning his first fight, Jakob went straight to the final. However, he had to bow out due to medical illness, still winning the silver medal.
The region’s trampoline representatives, for their part, managed to accumulate four medals, including a team gold medal.
A unique atmosphere
Ringette made a good impression at the Quebec Games. The team finished in seventh position, but what really stood out was the sportsmanship around the team and the discipline. Moreover, the enthusiastic encouragement from the Outaouais region testifies to the special atmosphere of the Quebec Games.
It is now the start of Block 2 and Lanaudière is represented in fencing, weightlifting, women’s hockey, judo, speed skating, diving, cross-country skiing and table tennis. The competitions began on Wednesday March 6.
