Further development in Southampton

He wants to make his mark immediately: “You should see changes after the first week. It’s important that the content is backed up with results. Without these, everything is no longer beautiful. I won’t reinvent football and will stay true to my principles .” He has to do without Patrick Wimmer in his first appearance, the ÖFB legionnaire is missing due to a red card.

During his time at Southampton, Hasenhüttl said he developed further as a footballer: “You need more solutions than just counter-pressing. You saw that in the Premier League.” He is still happy to be back in the Bundesliga: “We have very attractive stadiums, clubs and games here.”

Son Patrick knows how to impress as an assistant coach

One of his assistant coaches is his son Patrick Hasenhüttl, and he is very satisfied with his work so far: “I’m very happy that I made this decision. The main reason for hiring him was that I have a coach in the team who like the player thinks.”

His first game against Bremen with legionnaires Marco Friedl and Romano Schmid will be a first test: “We can expect a great atmosphere. I know how difficult it is to win in Bremen.”
